A real estate career can be as rewarding and exciting as YOU choose to make it, and taking the right steps as you get started can make a BIG DIFFERENCE!
Is a Real Estate Career Right For Me?
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a simple test to tell you if real estate is the right career for you? If there was, the test might sound like this:
Q: Do you get up before your alarm goes off?
A: If yes, you’re a go getter. This is good.
Q: Did you belong to the pep club in high school?
A: If yes, you’re enthusiastic. This also is good.
Q: Do you remember everyone you ever met?
A: If yes, this is good because you’ll need all the contacts you can muster.
Of course there really isn't a simple test to tell you if real estate is the right career choice for you, there are definately some general attributes that you can check against yourself to start thinking about your suitability. For example:
- Self-starter
- Hard worker
- Flexible
- Affable
- Good listener
- Determined
- Resilient
Let’s talk about some of these:
Affability is defined as having a pleasant and friendly disposition with people. In some professions, it ranks higher than ability, affordability, and accessibility. Affability is really important in real estate sales. If you're grumpy, grouchy and irritable, real estate may not be the perfect choice for you!
Determination and resiliency are extraordinarily important in real estate. Working with the public can be challenging enough, but when you add in the fact that you are helping someone make a life changing decision, well, let's just say you'll learn fast what it means to be determined and resilient!
